DEBENHAM COMMUNITY SWIMMING POOL
UPDATE: August 2022
You may remember that the money that was left in the Debenham Community Swimming Pool account was earmarked to support the purchase of new play equipment for the Upper Gardeners Road play area.
Debenham Parish Council asked the headteacher at Sir Robert Hitcham Primary school to hold a ballot among the children to see which of the three sets of play equipment they would prefer to have installed. Any of the three sets would have been acceptable to the Parish Council. The vote was held and 75% of the children voted for a set of equipment that will be supplied by Eastern Play Services at a cost of £38,000.
The Debenham Community Swimming Pool account has a balance of £23,414.97 which the trustees intend to transfer to Debenham Parish Council so it can be used to help pay for the new play equipment that the children have chosen.
The balance of the monies due will come from the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) monies that the Parish Council holds, and which must be spent within a 5 year period once it has been allocated. There are more than sufficient funds in the CIL account to cover the costs.
Once the money has been transferred to the Parish Council, the trustees of the Debenham Community Swimming Pool committee will submit final accounts to the Charity Commission and Companies House, and close the charity down as it will have fulfilled its useful function.
Thank you,
Richard Blackwell,
Treasurer, Debenham Community Swimming Pool.
