Due to a recent Heating oil theft in Bedingfield between the 30th January and the 1st February 2026, the local policing team would like to highlight generally the importance of Heating Oil Security with colder weather, many of us are topping up our heating oil. It’s a valuable resource—so it’s worth taking a few simple steps to keep it secure:
· Lock your tank – Use a high‑quality lock or specialist tank lock to deter opportunists.
· Install motion‑activated lights or CCTV – Most thieves avoid well‑lit, visible areas.
· Hide from view – Use fencing, trellis, or shrubs to make your tank less obvious.
· Keep an eye out – Report any suspicious vehicles or activity near fuel tanks.
Heating oil theft tends to rise during the winter months, but a few precautions can make a big difference. Stay warm, stay safe, and look after your property and one another.
