Local elections are scheduled to take place on 2 May 2019 for Parish and Town Councils.

If you would like to stand as a local Parish Councillor in these elections, please read the following links carefully.

Become a councillor

You will need to be nominated and seconded by other electors in order to stand as a local parish  Councillor.

Please read the information in the Nomination Pack carefully.

The nomination paper and consent to nomination form must be hand delivered by the candidate or someone on their behalf to a member of the Electoral Services Team, Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils Offices, Endeavour House, 8 Russell Road, Ipswich, IP1 2BX

Should you wish the Debenham Parish Clerk to deliver your papers to Electoral Services, please ensure that you have handed them to her no later than 5pm Monday 18th March 2019.

Alternatively please note that Mid Suffolk District Council  Electoral Services can only accept Nomination Papers from Tuesday 12th March to Wednesday 3rd April 2019 between the hours of 9am and 4pm Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays and weekend) that is a legislative requirement.

If the election is uncontested, there will be no voting required by local electors on 2 May.

If the election is contested, the poll will take place on 2 May, combined with the local District Council elections.
