Dawn Bell (nee Denyer)
I lived in Debenham from 1965 - 1970 at 34 Low Road. There were quite a few American families living there at the time too.
I attended Sir Robert Hitcham's Primary School and Debenham Modern School for a few months before my family emigrated to Cape Town, South Africa when I was 11.
I have very fond memories of Debenham and loved living there (when I look at the pictures on the website the Village is exactly as I remember it!) and was devastated when my parent's told me we were moving to a "strange country" that I had never heard of!!
I moved back to the UK eventually, 6 years ago. I am now 52 and was wondering if anyone can tell me the whereabouts of the children I knew (obviously all adults now!!), I only know their maiden names.
Namely Hazel Parker - she lived in Low Road, she has a brother Kevin, I think or Keith. Denise Cook and Katherine Instrall are the names that immediately come to mind as well.
There was a lady that ran a shop in a big shed in Low Road as well and I think her name was Mrs Hatcher or Thatcher (?)
Apologies for the vagueness.
If anyone can help Dawn, please please contact her direct but also let me know (Contact Us) so that I can assess the effectiveness of the website. Barry Woods, Editor
