Commemoration of Memorial Bench

At the end of last year, a memorial of seven English Oak trees were planted in Debenham to commemorate the role played by the people of Mid Suffolk in the First World War and to remember all those who gave their lives in sacrifice of our freedoms today.

To complement the trees, District Councillor Kathie Guthrie and County Councillor Matthew Hicks have funded a memorial bench which will be placed to the left of the oak trees.

The bench is due to be installed on Tuesday 26 February 2019 and both Councillors will be on site at 9am for a short commemorative event which will involve a group photo.

The event is organised by Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils.
